Start with a foundation
Choose a broad foundation such as a field, role, or long-running practice. It gives the rest of the map a place to connect without pretending to define your whole identity.
Grow branches, not labels
Add the skills, experiences, projects, and credentials that make the foundation concrete. A branch can represent a direction you are learning toward as well as work you already do.
Attach context and evidence
A title is a signal, not a full explanation. Add a short description, outcome, project, or record you have permission to share so someone can understand the capability behind the label.
Keep the map honest
Use self-reported language where appropriate, distinguish evidence from independent verification, and keep private or sensitive details out of anything you publish.
